03 Nov President Mahama joins Commonwealth leaders for CHOGM 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda
President John Dramani Mahama has joined other Commonwealth leaders in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which is focusing on strengthening partnerships, mobilising investment and advancing shared prosperity among member countries.
The summit, convened by King Charles III, is being held under the theme, “Accelerating Partnership and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth,” with discussions centred on economic cooperation, trade, investment and sustainable development.
President Mahama’s participation provides an opportunity for Ghana to engage other member countries on strategies to expand economic partnerships, attract investment and promote development across the Commonwealth.
During his two-day visit, the President is also expected to hold bilateral talks with several heads of state and government to explore areas of mutual interest and strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic and economic relations.
The meeting brings together Commonwealth heads of government, ministers, business leaders, representatives of civil society and youth organisations to discuss shared priorities and identify opportunities for cooperation.
The 2026 summit is President Mahama’s first Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting since his re-election in December 2024.
CHOGM is held every two years and provides a platform for leaders of member countries to deliberate on regional and global challenges, strengthen diplomatic relations and agree on collective approaches to issues affecting the Commonwealth.
